Tribute

After a protracted battle with breast cancer, Rona Dysa-Fabio Sarael died on March 17, 2024, 2:40 pm at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, San Ramon, CA surrounded by her family at the age of 49. She leaves behind her husband, Hudson and her precious only son, Zachary Elijah. Rona Dysa was born on January 13, 1975 in Cebu City Philippines, to mother Josefina and father Rudy, who predeceased her. She grew up in a loving family with brother Ryan and sister Rosie. From elementary to college, she excelled academically and even won multiple beauty contests since two years old; that would tell us she is a beauty inside and out. She graduated from Cebu City Medical Center with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1995. She migrated to the United States and worked as a Registered Nurse specializing in newborn babies specifically the Neonatal ICU for 28 years. Rona married classmate Hudson and the couple lived in Texas before transferring here in San Ramon with their only son. Rona was a driven professional, but her greatest passion of all was to be a mom. When diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months and days. Rona Dysa is survived by her husband and son, as well as her mother Josefina Fabio, sister, Rosie; her brother, Ryan; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives here and abroad.
She is preceded in death by her father Rudy Fabio, a son of a outstanding mayor in the Philippines. Rona requested to be cremated. A celebration of life gathering will be this Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at the Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette from 10:00am to 11:00 am. Family and friends are all welcome. The family would especially like to thank the whole staff of the John Muir Hospital for the attentive treatment, excellent work and loving care.
