Our sweet Mama Ruth passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. While our hearts are broken, we know that Heaven is filled with many people who are so happy to see her. She was a Southern Girl from the heart, never losing her accent and always putting her faith and others first.
Mama Ruth was born in NC. She was the third of four girls born to Oris and Dalmer Stewart. She married the love of her life, Bobby. They were blessed with two sons, Ron and Don. In 1959, the family moved to California and bought a new home on “Glover’s Corner” in Pacheco.
Mama Ruth was born to be a nurse. She completed 33 years at the County Hospital in Martinez where she was known for her compassion and her homemade goodies.
She survived the heartbreak of becoming a widow at 38 and losing her son, Don in 1999. She persevered and led her family by example of faith, strength, kindness and love. She treasured her role as Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma.
Mama Ruth was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Geneva and Melza, husband, Bobby; and son Don. She is survived by her Son, Ron (Carolyn); Sister, Orlene Bass; Grandchildren Bobby (Nicole); Kimberley Torrez (Dustin); Lori (Greg) and Garrett (Jennifer). She also leaves behind her great-grands whom she loved completely: Hailey, Luke, Ronni, Harper and Cameron (due 2/2022). Her memory will be treasured by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mama Ruth deeply loved her bonus family, Uilou, Misi, Mele and Ana who cared for her so lovingly.
Graveside services were held. A celebration of Mama Ruth’s life will take place in early 2022.
