Carol Sue Albright
Dec. 20, 1938 ~ Aug. 10, 2021
Resident of Martinez

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother (DeeDee), and friend of many, Carol passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Carol was born in Jefferson City, Missouri where she attended elementary, middle, and high school. Though no siblings, she had a large extended family and many great memories spending time with cousins on their farms, especially in the summers.

After high school, she attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois for two years and Central Missouri State University where she majored in Business Administration and minored in Music. She received her BS as well as her teaching credential and while raising her family and working received an MA in Education from the University of San Francisco.

In 1960, she and her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Fred, married and moved from Jefferson City, MO to Oakland, CA where they lived for eight years. They then moved to Martinez, CA where they resided and were members of the community for more than 50 years.

Upon arrival to California, she got her first job teaching Business Education at Berkeley High School. After teaching there for eight years, she moved to Martinez and was hired as a business teacher at Alhambra High School where she and her husband Fred would collectively teach for decades. Carol was also a consultant for the American Business College in Long Beach, California, and was active in many business education professional organizations.  She started the Business Club at Alhambra HS and led the job shadowing program designed to give students the opportunity to “shadow” professionals before entering the workforce. She retired in 2000 with 40 very memorable years of teaching.

Carol was an extremely gifted musician starting at the young age of 3 and pursued this through college. She even wrote and had her own songs copywritten and they were played at her daughter’s wedding in 1988.  She belonged to many organizations and groups including Brownies, Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, National Business Education Association, Glitterbugs, AAUW Martinez Branch, Vintage Book Club, Martinez Pass Book Group, and the Hillcrest Congregational Church Women's Fellowship. She was grateful her dear friend Edie Porter introduced her to PEO, a sisterhood that encourages and supports women to realize their potential. Always prioritizing education, Carol and Fred established a family scholarship in 2017 for Alhambra High School students who represent the attributes of continued success in their future educational pursuits.

Carol loved spending her time with her grandkids, attending their games, recitals,  matches and meets, playing the piano, going to lunch with her friends, reading, staying connected and visiting with former students in the community, loving her cats Bella and Sammy, and participating in church and PEO activities.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Amy Martin, (Tim), Joy Keith, and son, Paul Albright, Jr., and her five grandchildren: Blake Martin, Brent Martin, Krista Keith, Callum Albright, and Poppy Albright and special family friend Sherri Godfrey (Jason).  She will be missed by many.
