Carolyn Faye Wessman

October 2nd, 1931 – August 14th, 2021

Resident of Clayton, CA

On a peaceful Saturday afternoon, Carolyn Faye Wessman passed away in her beautiful home on Mt. Diablo at the age of 89. Born in Alabama, Carolyn and her family settled in Pinole, California, where she met the love of her life, Jack Wessman. In 1950, the childhood sweethearts married and started their own business, Blue Star Supply. Beginning their life together, the young entrepreneurs made homemade cleaning products and supplies, selling their products to local restaurants and businesses. Their collective success allowed them to purchase their first home together in Concord, California.

In the decades to follow, Carolyn pursued her lifelong passion for becoming a teacher. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts at San Francisco State University while attending night school and raising twin daughters Julie and Jill. Carolyn was a beloved elementary school teacher for 25+ years throughout the Mt. Diablo Unified School district. She was widely recognized throughout the community for being a kind, caring, and passionate educator. Carolyn took pride in keeping in touch with many of her students throughout their lives.

Carolyn also took much pride in her devout Christian faith. She spent much of her free time in Bible Study and prayer groups, forming lifelong bonds with her childhood friends and neighbors on Morgan Territory Road. The only place Carolyn spent more time was in her beautiful home library, and sparkling kitchen Jack crafted for her.  In those two sanctuaries, she would dive into her favorite books and spend hours making baked goods with her grandchildren.

Carolyn and Jack had a life of countless adventures. Including raising four children, Jayne, John, Julie, and Jill, opening a SCUBA diving shop, inventing numerous products, becoming licensed realtors, constructing their dream home on Mt. Diablo, and throwing their famous “Jamborees” with nearly 300 guests in attendance.

Carolyn had a life of numerous accomplishments. However, she would never fail to say that her most significant accomplishment was her family. Carolyn joins her place in heaven with the love of her life, Jack Wessman, children Jayne Wessman, John Wessman, and Jill Wessman-Clark. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but celebrate their reunion.

Carolyn is survived by her precious daughter Julie Wessman-Carroll (Don); grandchildren Tonya Wessman, Taylor Wessman, Chelsea Talosig, Kaleb (Peter) Wessman, Barrett Clark, and great-grandchildren Isadora and Gavin Talosig.
