Chifrey Malto’s Obituary

Chifrey "Chif" Malto was a goofy but sweet and caring son, brother, and friend. He has gone to be with our Creator on November 5, 2021, at the age of 23. He will always be remembered as a funny, gentle giant who sowed joy, laughter, and love to those around him.

He was born to Carlito and Cecilia Malto on November 8, 1997 in Manila, Philippines but grew up in the rural town of Biñan. After finishing high school, his family moved to Martinez, California where he pursued further studies to one day become a mechanical engineer.

Chif, or "Buboy" to his family, can be hard-headed at times but this is outshined by his sweetness, especially to his parents and siblings. His big warm hugs and how he leans on your shoulder would win your heart. He liked barging into rooms and asking countless questions, even senseless ones, all in the name of getting an excuse to spend some time with you.

He was a hardworking student. He worked as a sales associate at Nordstrom while studying at Diablo Valley College. He was very fond of his work. He provided excellent service to his customers and had fun spending time with his co-workers turned friends. Whether at school or at work, he definitely won hearts with his kindness and humor and gained a lot of friends along the way. He was a dependable friend who was always ready to give of his time and resources to those who need it.

Chif loved playing basketball and video games ever since he was a kid. Even as an adult, he would continue to spend hours in his room playing online games with his friends, if not hanging out with them and trying out different restaurants. He also liked going to the gym and taking nature trips.

He was survived by his parents, a sister, a brother, paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Please join us as we celebrate his life through a memorial service to be held at Oakmont Memorial Park. Visitation hours are from 4pm to 8pm on November 17-18.
