Donald Edward Brown

Donald Edward Brown, age 78, passed away at his home on March 30, 2021. He was born on September 12, 1942, in Vallejo, California, to Thurman Brown & Ozelle Luna-Brown. He was a 1962 graduate of Alhambra High School in Martinez, Ca then attended Diablo Valley College. He went on to work as a foreman for Comcast for 35 years until he retired.

Donald loved being a member of the Martinez Yacht Club for many years & enjoyed gathering with friends. He had many interests that included boating, fishing, golfing, going on cruises, day trips to try out new restaurants, drive down the coast or simply just grab an ice chest & spend the day at the ocean. He also found pleasure in grabbing the grandkids, loading up the RV and heading to a KOA campsite and always eager to attend all the grandkids & great-grandkids sporting events & school activities. Grandpa Don was loved by all the kids.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Arbelaez-Brown of seven years. They had met in high school, then engaged in college, went on to have separate families & married 49 years later! Donald is also survived by his three biological children, Michael Brown, Richard Brown & daughter, Tracy Brown. Two step-daughters, Deanna Martinez & Cheri Arbelaez. Daughter-in-law, Nicole Brown & son-in-law, Johnny Martinez. Two biological grandsons, Aron Brown & Cody Brown. Six step grandchildren, Sabrina & Justin Reedy, Samantha & Tommy Bertram, Sierra & Roman De Leon, James Arbelaez-Tacconi, Isabelle Arbelaez & Jacob Arbelaez. Ten step great-grandchildren, Myah, Malyki, Darin, Leilani, Noah, McKenzye, Rena, Kolby, Zoey & baby Ray. Last but not least, man’s best friend, Toby! His little dog that took on the responsibility of caregiver, companion & protector. He brought Don much love & happiness.

Donald was a beloved brother to three older sisters that cared for him very much, especially his sister, Virginia (Ruby). He always said she took him under her wing & always made sure he was alright. He was a brother-in-law to Vicky von Waldegg, Elizabeth von Waldegg and Jaime von Waldegg. An uncle, great-uncle & cousin too many that loved him.

His death is preceded by his parents, Thurman & Ozelle Brown, previous wife, Beverly Shelby-Brown and his sisters, Joyce, Pat & Virginia (Ruby).

Services will be held at Oakmont Memorial Gardens. All family & friends are welcome to share stories, pay their last respects & say their final goodbyes.
