Dr. George Edward Cobb

August 10, 1930 ~ September 21, 2021 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Tribute

Dr. George Edward Cobb lived a life full of love for 91 years.  He was born August 10, 1930 to George and Nell Cobb and was raised in Norman, Oklahoma.  He earned a B.S. at the University of Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life.  He and Marilyn were married in 1954 and moved to Boston one year before George graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1955.

George spent two years in Baltimore for his surgical residency at Johns Hopkins before moving west, where he spent five years with the U.S. Public Health Service in surgery and residency in San Francisco.  Dr. Cobb started his private practice in Lafayette in 1962 - and built a new medical building six years later.  He enjoyed his family practice for forty-two years.  He was also a surgeon at John Muir Hospital and served as a deacon at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church.

George and Marilyn were married more than 60 years - before she passed away in 2015.  Together, they enjoyed traveling the world, skiing, boating, their friends and most of all their family in the home they built in Danville.  We take comfort in knowing they are together again.

George is survived by his three children Debbie (& Keith), Sheri (& Mark) and Chris - his six grandchildren Jennifer, Sheryl, Blake, Taylor, Christina and Polina - and two great-grandchildren Haley and Lucas.

We will all love and miss him forever.

Donations in George's name can be made to John Muir Hospital (givehealthjmh.org) or Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (lopc.org).
