On February 3, 2020, Dr. Young Taik Kang, age 78, passed away peacefully at home in Millbrae surrounded by his family. Dr. Kang will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Jung Ae; his son John and daughter Jean (Robert); and his adoring grandchildren Ryan (16), Justin (14), Raith (11), and Rhys (9). Dr. Kang earned his BA in Chemistry and Pharmacy at Chung-Ang University and an MBA at Korea University. He embarked on a Pharmaceutical career rising to executive status in the second largest pharmaceutical company in Seoul, S. Korea. He married in 1970, had a son in 1972, and then a daughter in 1974. In 1975, the Kang family moved to America. With no real grasp of the English language and being in an unfamiliar country, Dr. Kang and his wife worked tirelessly to secure a promising future for their children in America. After decades of building business ventures, he went into retirement to spend time with his 4 grandsons. Always moving forward, he came out of retirement to pursue his life’s dream of being a doctor. At age 74, Dr. Kang graduated from the University of East West Medicine with a DAOM (Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) degree. He spent his remaining years focusing on easing the pain of his many patients with a gentle touch and a kind heart.

Visitation and services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary located at 2099 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette. Visitation will begin at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30am.
