Edilberto Reyes Simeon, 74 years old, passed away on the evening of November 3, 2020 in Danville, California.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Corazon Buntan Simeon, of 48 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his father, Nicolas Avendano of Navotas; and his mother, Agripina Reyes of Navotas.
He is the 2nd child of eight siblings. His siblings are Vicky, Dan, Alice, Titus, Deo, Heldy and Tippin.
Eddie was born on April 23, 1946 in Navotas, Philippines. He graduated from Saint James Academy (Elementary), National Teachers College (High School) in Malabon, and University of the East, Manila, Philippines with a BS in Business Administration.
He formally met his wife at the Lyric Piano Center where they both worked in 1968. They were married on August 12, 1972 at the San Jose Church in Navotas, Philippines.
After their wedding, he left the Philippines to join his wife in Chicago, Illinois. They purchased their first home in Bensenville, Illinois in 1974.
Eventually, he and his family moved out west to Hercules, California in 1988 to be closer to both sides of his family.
He worked for United Airlines in Chicago and in San Francisco as a computer programmer analyst until he retired.
Eddie was a great family man and a loving father. His children, Elaine Rose and Eddie Jr., were born in Chicago. His grandchildren are Phillip Alexander, Noe Misa, Cameron Rose, Barry Aaron, Jake Edward and Claire Rose.
His closest friends were Ben Buntan, Ronnie Zimmerman, and Rolly Santiago.
His favorite places to vacation were Hawaii and the Philippines. And, he enjoyed cooking, watching basketball (Chicago Bulls) and taking vacations with the family.
Hearing the voices and laughter of his grandchildren brought him the biggest joy.
His family and friends will always remember him as an adventurous, generous and caring person.
A viewing is scheduled on November 15, 2020 at the Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary from 5-8pm.
The mass is scheduled on November 16, 2020 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church at 10:30am. The burial is scheduled at 1pm at the Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary , 2099 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette, CA. There will not be a reception as recommended by the county and diocese.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate, Eddie’s life. We understand the health risks of our current times so we will be offering access to these ceremonies through Zoom. If you attend in-person, please wear your mask and conduct appropriate social distancing rules.
