Emily Joanna Bates

Born Emily Joanna Bates January 5, 1952 in Natchez Mississippi to Billie Jean and Henry Kinchen Bates.

She is survived by her sister Catherine Brake, Livermore CA. nieces and nephew Leighsa Dawn Ayers of Livermore CA, Jayson Stewart Ayers of Lake Tahoe CA., Jennifer Anne Calandra of Port Royal SC.

Additionally Emily had several great nieces and nephews living in California and South Carolina. She is also survived by her ex-husband Jon Vander Pauwert.  

Emily was preceded in death by her beloved brother Milton S. Bates.

Emily worked in the Semi-conductor industry for more than 30 years as a materials manager, she also worked in the food industry and as an air line stewardess. She had worked Cisco, Apple, ICS, Kaiser Aerospace and Medtronic.

Recently Emily was living in El Dorado Hills, CA. She made the bay area her home most of her life, she did live briefly in Hilton Head South Carolina and Las Vegas Nevada. Her formative years where she grew up was in Point Richmond, San Pablo and Pinole California.

Emily loved to travel the world, she had visited Taiwan, Japan, Greece, Italy, France, England, Mexico Belise and most of the Caribbean Islands. At the time of her death she had planned on more travels with her sister.

Emily was passionate about animals and had owned several dogs. Coco, Jewel, Max, Hanna, Bentley and Beau.
