Geraldine Burchell passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 10, at her home, surrounded by her loving daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her caregivers.  She touched many lives with her warm smile, friendly manner and open arms.

Gerry is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Rene Cain (John).  Gerry's legacy is extend to her 3 adoring grandchildren, Matthew (Deanna) Lopas, Stephen (Genny) Lopas, Kelly (Jeremie) Ginelli.  She was blessed with six great grandchildren, which she loved and adored; Mikaela, Jordan, Sophia, Ben, Jake, and Lily. 

Geraldine was born to Jerald and Ruby Skinner in Bonanza, AR.  Her parents relocated to Alameda when Gerry and her only sibling, Jimmie Skinner, were young teenagers.  Geraldine attended Alameda High School, and met a handsome sailor, the love of her life, Earl Burchell with whom she spent 65 fun packed years.

Gerry started working for Contra Costa County around 1956 and soon was promoted to supervisor in the computer processing department.  They were active in numerous square dance clubs in the area. They danced for 30+ years, traveling and developing many lifelong relationships with friends.

In Dec. 1978 Gerry and Earl embarked on their love of travel and bought a motorhome, which began their endeavor to cover the US.  Together, over 30 years, they would cover the world doing what they loved best, traveling, whether “motor-homing” or traveling with groups abroad. Gerry's beloved husband, Earl Burchell, passed away January 2014.

Gerry's life was rich and full with family, friends, fabulous extended family caregivers (May, Winnie, Arlene, Beth, Elizabeth, Rosa...+ others).  Gerry's curious nature, warmth and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Family and friends have been blessed with wonderful memories of a truly unique and wonderful person, she will be missed terribly! 

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday August 23, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00PM at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette, CA .  Funeral services will be Wednesday August 24th at 11:00 also at Oakmont.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Concord.  The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a Pet Rescue of your choice (because Gerry loved animals) or any charity of your choice.
