Gloreanna Delight Zahn passed away in her home where she lived for more than 50 years on July 23, 2019 at the age of 89 years young. Her family is very thankful that we have finally been able to get to this moment in time so that we may fulfill her wishes and place her and her beloved husband, Herbert “Joe” Zahn, who pre-deceased her on June 1, 1992 in their final resting place at Oakmont Memorial. Gloreanna was a loving wife of Herbert “Joe” Zahn for 15 years. She was pre-deceased by her sister Bernice, brothers Armond, Harold, Roland and Howard. She was also pre-deceased heartbreakingly too soon by her grandsons Sean (2017) and Ryan (2019). Gloreanna loved being a friend, Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother. Her family and friends were very dear and important to her.
She is survived by her loving sons, Danny (Kathy) Lewis, Jimmy (Jean) Lewis, Terry (Valerie) Lewis, and Tracy (Janice) Lewis. She was full of smiles and pride when she spoke of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and how much joy they brought to not only their parents lives but to hers as well. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, grandson, Steven, Sean’s wife Shannon, great grandson Trenton, granddaughter Kristel, husband (Mark) Wissel, great grandchildren Lilliana & Bennett Wissel, grandson Joshua, wife (Jayne) great grandchildren Jayden & Jordan, grandson, Christopher, great granddaughter Maxine , and granddaughters Jennifer, Stephanie, Katlyn, husband (Anthony)Villarreal. She is also survived by her devoted nieces, Sandie and PeeWee.
Prior to Joe’s passing they enjoyed various activities and had a florist business together too. They loved creating beautiful arrangements for all occasions including the weddings of their children and the children of friends. They enjoyed traveling to visit family in Alaska & Oregon. They went rock hunting sometimes finding one of her favorites Obsidian which they would create beautiful jewelry, book ends and more. They were very active in the Elks Lodge of which Gloreanna was the President in 1984-1986 and held many other positions always bringing her creativity and sharing her many talents with everyone. Later she worked at Hancock Fabrics where many patrons would not only come in to shop but also ask her for her expertise and craft knowledge to complete various handmade creations. She mostly enjoyed making things with her hands, which was undeniable by looking at all the beautiful creations she has made over the years. She made clothes and costumes for her children and then her grandchildren. She sewed booties for just about everyone including, family, friends, neighbors, doctors, nurses and more. She just loved to create and see the happiness on the recipient’s face. She donated baby quilts to three different hospitals, and Washington Hospital’s news put an article and pictures in their paper with her beautiful quilts and posted it on Facebook and the Hospitals own website. There are so many beautiful items she created, and she really shined when she had the opportunity to teach. A few of her caregivers became friends and learned how to make the quilts and other amazing things. She also had a green thumb. She loved her violets, her “drunkard”- (her enormous Lily Plant) the cactus plants (the Christmas ones seemed to bloom in June only for her), and so many more. She just loved to keep busy. She was an avid sports fan, loved the Warriors, SF 49ers, the Raiders. She really appreciated the raw talent of the young players and the excitement it brought to college football and basketball. She also loved music. Her last caregiver who also became a friend (Alice) watched basketball, football and used to sing the oldies with her.
Her love and the wonderful memories will live long in our hearts and minds in our fond stories, pictures, and the beautiful handmade creations she bestowed to all of us made from her with love. We will miss Mom every day.
