Hilda Wynell Snodgrass died on June 25, 2021 from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. Under hospice care in her final months, she died peacefully in her sleep.
Wynell was born April 22, 1935 in Gadsden Alabama. She married Donald Keith Snodgrass on August 22, 1958 in Gadsden. Together, they had 4 children over the next 13 years, each born in a different state as Don’s career grew, moving from Alabama, to Missouri, to Florida, and then finally to Concord, California, where they raised their family and lived the rest of their lives together.
Wynell was a devoted wife and mother. She proudly worked as a stay at home mom, managing the household finances, cooking, cleaning, providing transportation, supporting, and caring for her husband and children. She loved taking care of young children the most, and could be heard singing heartily as she went about her day. She had a great sense of humor, raising a family that carries on the tradition of laughter, and was known to be a bit of a card shark, declaiming her terrible hand before putting down a decisive win. In their years of retirement, Wynell and Don enjoyed travelling, square dancing, bowling and spending time with their 4 children and 6 grandchildren. In her later years, Wynell reconnected to her Alabama roots, watching and heartily cheering for the University of Alabama, Crimson Tide football team.
Wynell is survived by her children; Pamela Humphrey and partner Kyle McCann, Keith Snodgrass and wife Lynda Misher, Rita Snodgrass and wife Kathleen Ward, Karen Shaver and husband Joel Shaver, and six grandchildren; Daniel, Beatrice, Sonia, Aidan, Isabella, and Audrey. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Keith Snodgrass.
Wynell will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
