Kathleen Gonzalez

Kathleen Gonzalez passed away at her home in Martinez, California on Monday, August 22, 2022; she was 79. She grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and spent summers in Wisconsin with her parents and her extended family. She studied art at Augustana College, and later in life she earned a certificate as a library assistant. Kathleen met her husband, Fabian Gonzalez, while taking a wildflower class at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. She raised her family in Clarendon Hills, Illinois and moved to California upon retiring to be near family. Kathleen was a great lover of the outdoors, gardening, and music; she enjoyed singing in various choirs in her retirement. She leaves behind her daughters, Lisa Gonzalez of Concord and Tina Sherwin (Jeff) of Martinez, and her grandson, Fabian Sherwin. Burial was at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Illinois. There will be a memorial service at First Congregational Church of Martinez on Saturday, October 1 at 2pm.
