Leonard P. Grassini

Sunrise:  September 28, 1942  Sunset:  October 26, 2021

Leonard P. Grassini was born on September 28, 1942 and grew up with his family in Daly City.  He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960 and then served his country in the U.S. Navy.

For 55 years, Len was a leader in the ever-changing telecommunications industry.  He had thirty years of service with Pac Bell before he took early retirement in 1990.  However, Len was a hardworking man and it was not in his blood to live the life of a retiree who spends most of their time golfing or fishing.  Instead, Len continued to work for another 25 years on various telecommunication projects as he was very skilled in project planning and project management.  From 1991-1997, Len was a Supervisor for Kline Electronic Company.  After leaving Kline, he worked as an IT Consultant. Towards the end of his career, Len was an inspector and self-contractor with his own company, Jango 16, from  2012-2016.  During this season of his career, Len completed several projects at various Kaiser Permanente hospitals throughout the Bay Area before he decided to finally retire at the age of 74.

In 1970, Len married Pamela Kost and he became a lifelong Dad to her three young daughters. Seventeen months later, their son, Tony, was born.  Having a son, gave Len a lifetime of joy and Tony has always been the apple of his father’s eye.

Len was a lifelong resident of the Bay Area and he lived in Martinez for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed attending SF Giants and Cal Bears games and he had a passion for wrestling events. He enjoyed watching AEW wrestling with his son and cheering for his favorite wrestler, Jon Moxley.

Len was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Grassini as well as his sister, Gladys Grassini in May 2012 and his oldest daughter, Suzette “Sue” Schmidt in November 2014.

Len was very proud of his Italian heritage and he deeply loved his family.  He was quite a character and his love, wit, and sarcasm will be missed by all who knew him.  Len is survived by his son: Tony Grassini; his two daughters: Lori Dostie (Joe) and Melissa Millecam (Derek); his three grandchildren: Nathan Schmidt, Cori Dostie and Ashley Dostie; and by his beloved cousins. Len is also survived by his grand-dog, Padme, who greatly misses her Grandpa.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Oakmont Memorial Park, 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, November 9.  Len’s entombment will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at 11:30 am at the Italian Cemetery in Colma, CA.
