Mary Ann Vallis

Mary Ann (Arredondo) Vallis was born on July 5, 1924, in Los Angeles, CA. Mary Ann’s parents, Herminia and Jose Arredondo, raised her and her 7 siblings (Elvira, Jesse, Paula, Herminia, Rafaela, Ramon and Ruben) in the Mojave Desert, in Southern California.

In 1944, Mary Ann graduated from Barstow High School, where she excelled at track and basketball. After High School, she moved to San Bernardino and lived with her beloved Aunt Lupe while she attended cosmetology school.

In 1946, after World War II, Mary Ann married her high school sweetheart, George Vallis Jr. and they moved to Richmond, California. Mary Ann and George had two sons, Ralph and George.

In 1952, Mary Ann and George moved into their “forever home” in Concord, CA, where they created many loving memories.

Mary Ann’s life revolved around her family. She enjoyed spending time with her husband (who she was married to for 58 years), her sons, her daughters-in-law (Connie and MaryFrances), her grandchildren (Damian, Angelica, Elyse, Josiah, Ashley) and her great grandchildren (Yazmeen, Ilyiana, Galilaya, Georgie and Michael).

Mary Ann was the devoted matriarch of the Vallis Family. Mary Ann was a loving wife, a caring mother, an adoring aunt, the world’s best grandmother and a doting great-grandmother. Mary Ann lived to be 98 years old and she was a true “Pioneer Woman.”

On December 9, 2022, Mary Ann passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Mary Ann’s services will be held on January 6, 2023 (Viewing from 4PM to 8PM) and January 7, 2023 (Service at 11 AM and Burial at 12PM) at Oakmont Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lafayette, CA. Following the burial, the Vallis Family would like to welcome all of Mary Ann’s family and friends to celebrate her beautiful life at First Lutheran church, located at 4000 Concord Blvd, Concord, CA.
