Michael Whelan, resident of Martinez, CA, passed away Friday, August 28th after a short illness. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Roslindale, MA. He graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and then headed to California for new adventures. From there he traveled to Hawaii, Guam, and back to California – working as a chef along the way. He had many fond memories of Aladinos and Bambinos and the many good friends he had there. He worked as a Union Plumber at Local 159 for 25 years. He volunteered for many years as a baseball, football, and basketball coach – including his sons teams. Mike loved the Red Sox, Patriots, camping, cooking, motorcycle rides, water sports, and holidays with family and friends. There was never a crowd he couldn’t cook for. Mike was a loving husband, father, brother, and Uncle. He is survived by his wife Dianna, sons Michael, Colin, and Riley, nephew Tristyn, brothers Eddie and Chucky, sisters Theresa and Lisa, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Carole and Charlie Whelan. Services will be held Saturday September 26th at 10:00 a.m. Creekside Church, 444 Figtree Ln. Martinez, CA 925-228-8156.
