Rejeanne Florina (Simard) Kindt

Rejeanne Florina (Simard) Kindt passed away peacefully on May 2, 2022.  She was born on June 12, 1933 in the small town of Alfred, Ontario Canada, the second child of Adrien and Emilie Simard.  Her family settled in Sudbury, where she completed her bilingual education, doing well in school.  She met Herman Kindt at a dance hall, and they soon married, settled down and started a family.  She worked at Eaton’s Department Store, while Herman worked in the copper mine, building a small home together before deciding to pursue their dreams in California, first-born son Don in tow.  In time, they added another son Wayne, and daughters Monique and Colette.  They purchased a house in Concord, which was their family home until very recently.  They also built a unique round vacation home near Lake Don Pedro, a source of many family gatherings.

In addition to being an outstanding and loving wife and mother, she served the Diablo School District for many years, both as a teacher’s aide and as a food preparer.  Somehow, she also found time for sewing and knitting, growing a garden and canning her own fruits and vegetables.  She prepared countless homecooked meals, perfecting many recipes.  An excellent bowler, winning lots of trophies.  She enjoyed travel and activities as a member of the Concord Sportsmen’s Club.  Family road trips back to Canada were frequent.

Rejeanne (Jean) was known for her friendliness, generosity and kindness, as well as for her playful sense of humor.  Always willing to play along with whatever shenanigans were going on, she was the center of attraction at family events.  Faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Queen of All Saints.

Preceded in death by her brothers Raymond and Leon (Therese) Simard, husband Herman Kindt, daughter Colette (Lee) Boseman, and son Raymond (Michelle) Guillemette.  Survived by her children Don (Jeannie) Kindt, Wayne (Marsha) Kindt, and Monique (Kevin) Lynch, as well as siblings Aline (Gerry) Delorme, Germain (Shirley) Simard, Aurel (Francoise) Simard, and Cecile (Roy) Cazabon.  She was blessed with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, both in Canada and the US.

We will miss her terribly but will hold her in our hearts forever.  Fly with the angels, dear Rejeanne.

Services will be held at Queen of All Saints Church, 2390 Grant St. on May 12 at 10:00.
