Rosalie Ann Stodden

December 21, 1925 ~ May 18, 2021 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tribute

Our mom, Rosalie Ann Stodden passed away peacefully on May 18, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born in Richmond, California in 1925 and was a long time resident of El Cerrito. Mom spent some time working at Western Pacific railroad in San Francisco during the war prior to marrying our dad at St. Jerome's Catholic Church in El Cerrito in 1946. Our parents spent their first 3 years together in Reno, Nevada where they had their first child. They returned to the bay area and expanded their family with 3 more children. Mom worked full time at home raising her children. In the late 80’s, she worked for the City of El Cerrito as a secretary. Once dad retired, they spent many happy years traveling; going on cruises to places like Alaska, Hawaii, Tahiti, East Coast up to Quebec Canada, and to the Panama Canal. She enjoyed  family time with her children, grandchildren, her sister, brothers, in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was known for her great sense of humor, her ability to talk to anyone, and her love for anything related to dessert. She most definitely had a sweet tooth! She was a strong lady and a three time cancer survivor. She lived her life with great strength, and was a wonderful example of how to raise a family filled with love and a strong faith in God.

She was predeceased by our father Robert, to whom she was married to for 65 years. She leaves behind her daughter Linda Sorbi and her husband Jim of Reno, son Dan Stodden and his wife Peg of Fairfield, daughter Jeanne Bess of Antelope (and her late husband John), and daughter Carol Holcomb and her husband Roland of Hercules. The family grew from there to include 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by all, but we were blessed to have her with us for so long. She is safe in God’s loving care and she is at peace.

Our special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Stonehedge Care Home, and Vitas Healthcare for the loving care they gave to our mother.
