Valerie Bailey

Valerie Rose Bailey was born on July 1st, 1957 in San Francisco, California. She showed such academic promise throughout elementary and middle school she was chosen to attend the prestigious Lowell High School - a coveted opportunity. Valerie continued to excel academically and went on to pursue collegiate education at San Francisco State University.

Valerie began her professional career in advertising at J. Walter Thompson, and later managed the fast paced movie industry media buying at Jack Wodell Associates and L’Estrange in Walnut Creek, California. In 1996 she was hired by H&L Partners (formerly Hoffman/Lewis) to work on the McDonald’s Bay Area and Northern California Toyota Dealers accounts, managing the broadcast advertising and buying. She was promoted to Broadcast Supervisor shortly thereafter, managed all the agency broadcast buying focused on the West Coast, and became a Vice-President Group Media Director in 2001.

In her 26 year tenure Valerie’s leadership and innovative ideas contributed to the agency’s client success. Her minority advertising efforts for the local MCdonald's restaurant won H&L Partners national award recognition. She was an integral part of the agency’s new business team and was instrumental in the acquisition of McDonald’s advertising work across the country.

Valerie was an avid reader and traveled extensively in her lifetime. She is known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She is survived by her partner and love, Huxely Richardson, her daughter, Apreal Bailey, her grandchildren Daymond and Bailey Coleman, her sister Marilyn Williams (Burrell) her nieces Dalila and Meteka, her nephew Jerome, great nephews, Cameron and Cairo and great niece, Tanya, in addition to a host of other family members and friends.

Valerie was an extraordinary partner, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, teacher, and mentor to many, as well as an industry leader in the San Francisco media community. She will truly be missed by many.
