Wayne Roy Turnage

Wayne Roy Turnage, age 77, passed away on October 21, 2021, at Kaiser Hospital after a short illness.

Wayne was born on June 24, 1944, in Kauai, Hawaii. He spent the majority of his life in Contra Costa and Solano County and in his later years enjoyed spending time in Angels Camp and Reno, Nevada.

He was a hardworking, yet simple man. He always enjoyed any project big or small. He was proud of his home in Angels Camp, where he built an addition, garage, arena and gazebo. He always kept busy and enjoyed working on the property with his dog, Buddy, always by his side. 

When he wasn’t building, Wayne found pleasure working on his 1932 Ford Coupe. He enjoyed motorcycle trips to Reno’s Hot August Nights and had hopes to enter his Ford once it was completed. 

Wayne also enjoyed long road trips; places like Wyoming, and the beautiful trees and scenic views that would bring him peace. He never got tired of driving and always had his dogs in tow. He also enjoyed camping with his wife, attending his grandchildren’s baseball games and most of all spending time with his entire family.

Wayne spent many years in the car wash industry and later transitioned into the hazardous waste industry. He owned and operated two very successful hazardous waste companies for 29 years. After retiring, he decided to keep going and started a garbage transportation business that also kept him busy.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Karen Turnage; his sons Stephan Turnage and Jason Turnage (Johnna); stepdaughter Amy Schmidt (David); stepson Robert Eason (Chandra); eight wonderful grandchildren Samantha and Alexa Turnage, Trentin, Tavin and Brody Schmidt, Payton, Michael and Ava Eason; brothers Glen Turnage (Joy) and Warren Turnage; along with many friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Helen Turnage (Ikehara).

Wayne was a generous and caring man, who always enjoyed helping others. He will forever be remembered and loved by many. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on November 10, 2021, at Northgate Church, 2201 Lake Herman Rd, Benicia. His final resting place will be at Rockville Cemetery, Fairfield.
