October 17, 1919 – January 18, 2021

On Monday January 18, 2021, Winifred Ellen Wootten loving wife and mother of three children passed away at the age of one hundred and one.

Winifred was born on October 17, 1919 in Lodi California. She attended Lodi High School and the University of the Pacific. On August 29, 1941 she married Robert Denver Wootten of Modesto California. They moved to Lafayette California where they raised three children Robin, Robert and Rebecca.

Winifred had a passion for gardening, golfing, ballroom dancing and boating with family on the Sacramento Delta. Her husband Robert fondly referred to her as his “First Mate” but everyone knew she was really the “Captain”.

Over the years, Winifred was involved in many volunteer activities and ladies league benefiting John Muir Hospital of Walnut Creek. She was also a member of the Masonic organization of Rainbow Girls. Nicknamed “Wini” was best  known for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and quiet but infectious laugh. Winifred was always a lady.

Winifred was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years Robert Denver Wootten,  her daughter Robin Crangle and her son Robert L. Wootten.  She is survived by her youngest daughter Rebecca Tabone and grandchildren Tori, Rick, Traci and Jessica as well as great grandchildren Emma, Drew, Maddy and Joseph.

Funeral  Service,  will be held at Oakmont Memorial Park and Mortuary 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette California 94549.

Graveside Service Friday January 22, 2021 At 2:00 P.M.
